Correct, the EFL Trophy was sponsored by Leasing.com last season after the car leasing company had initially agreed a three-year deal to sponsor the competition last August. However, the competition was rebranded as the ‘Papa John’s Trophy’ in October after the EFL agreed a new lucrative three-year sponsorship deal with the takeaway pizza company.“The exclusive partnership, which will run until at least the end of the 2022/23 season, sees the competition become known as the ‘Papa John’s Trophy’ with immediate effect,” said the EFL when announcing the agreement on its official website last month.- Advertisement – Manchester United greats Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs were in attendance as their former side’s U21s thrashed the club they co-own 6-0 in the EFL Trophy – Advertisement – “In addition to the title sponsorship, Papa John’s will also be the Official Pizza of the EFL.”Meanwhile, EFL chief commercial officer, Ben Wright, said of the new partnership: “The EFL is delighted to welcome Papa John’s as title sponsor of the EFL Trophy and a new addition to the League’s portfolio of partners.“As we continue to navigate through the challenging times that the coronavirus pandemic presents, it is testament to the growing appeal of the EFL that we are able to attract new partners and invest the sponsorship fee into the competition through payments to clubs, which is important during this difficult period.”Right, so who’s taking part then? However, last season’s final – featuring holders Portsmouth and Salford City – has yet to take place, with the Wembley showpiece postponed following the coronavirus outbreak in March.Where can I see all the action? You can see highlights from this week’s group games – and the rest of the competition – on Sky Sports News, the Sky Sports app and the website on Wednesday morning. Highlights from AFC Wimbledon’s EFL Trophy win over Charlton and Fleetwood’s victory at Carlisle earlier this season Image:Manchester United U21s eased past Salford City 6-0 in their EFL Trophy group stage clash in Sept If you are a fan of a particular Premier League club, then you will almost certainly recognise a number of the youngsters on display. For example, the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Sepp van den Berg and Ben Woodburn have all featured for Liverpool in this season’s competition, while exciting forward Liam Delap has lined up for Manchester City. When is the final? The EFL Trophy, now known as the Papa John’s Trophy, returns to action with more group-stage matches on Tuesday night. Unsure about the exact format of the competition? Well, not to worry as we explain it all to you here…So, what is the Papa John’s Trophy? It is the English Football League [EFL] Trophy featuring clubs from League One and League Two, as well ‘Academy teams’ – with Category One status – from both the Premier League and Championship.Hang on, was it not known as the Leasing.com Trophy last season?- Advertisement – 1:44 It is a midweek knockout cup competition featuring a group stage consisting of 16 regional groups of four teams that runs between September and November. The groups are made up of one invited ‘Category One’ side, with the rest consisting of EFL Clubs from either League One or League Two, with fixtures done on a regionalised basis until the quarter-finals.Everyone plays each other once, either home or away, although academy sides play all their group matches away from home. And if the game ends in a draw after 90 minutes, a penalty shootout is then held, with the winning team earning an additional point. The top two from each group will then progress to the knockout stage of the competition, which gets underway in December and is also drawn on a regionalised basis. And which players are eligible to compete?EFL clubs must have at least four ‘qualifying’ outfield players in their line-ups, with such a player meeting these requirements:Any player who started the previous or following first-team fixtureAny player who is in the top 10 players at the club who have made the most starting appearances in league and domestic cup competitions that seasonAny player with 40 or more first-team appearances in their careerAny player on loan from a Premier League club or any EFL ‘Category One’ academy clubA club can play any eligible goalkeeper in the competitionAre there any academy players I may recognise?
Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher has said the slight increase in the Udaras na Gaeltachta annual budget is a welcome first step on the part of the Government. However, the West Donegal TD said significantly more needs to be done to support the agency to the level that it urgently requires.Udaras is charged with the role and responsibility of developing Gaeltacht areas, this is an ever-changing role and one which meets the same challenges as the IDA and Enterprise Ireland who preform similar functions in non-Gaeltacht areas. But, unlike those other two state agencies Udaras does not get the same level of state support and aid, and this is unfair and completely wrong on the part of the Government, said Deputy Gallagher. He added “Government policy is making second class citizens of Gaeltacht areas in terms of funding opportunities for employment creation and development potential.“This anomaly whereby Udaras is effectively treated and funded solely by the Department of Gaeltacht , as opposed to the Department of Enterprise means that less funding is made available for Gaeltacht areas.”Pat the Cope added that Udaras na Gaeltachta at present support and sustain over 7,700 jobs within the Gaeltacht areas, they furthermore run various programmes from Community Development, to Community employment programmes in addition to preforming the functions of Local Enterprise Offices in Gaeltacht areas notwithstanding the functions of the various Plean Teanga ( language planning ) in our Gaeltacht communities . The Gaeltacht areas have a population of 100,716 as per the 2011 census, with most of the population divided over Gaeltacht areas in Donegal , Mayo, Galway, Kerry, Cork , Waterford and Meath. In 2009, the Udaras current budget was €14 m, the current budget for 2019 is just €9.5m.The staffing level of Udaras is also cut from a staff of 156 in 2008 to present day levels of 88 people only.Deputy Gallagher said the blatant unfairness of what is occurring at present is best shown in last week’s budget, whereby additional support is channelled through Department of Enterprise for supports and attracting new business and employers, in real terms the Udaras budget increase is just enough to keeping Udaras standing still in times of unequalled challenge.Udaras backed business and employers with 10 employees or more have contributed over €800 m to the national exchequer, with 60% of that being exported. That is also contributing €150 m payroll to local communities and a return to the national exchequer of a nett €77 m in taxes alone, he said. He added “I am challenging the Government to think outside the box, we are in unprecedented times of uncertainty and volatility, the people of Gaeltacht areas deserve the same supports and assistance as people in other areas are already availing off.“The Government must align the Udaras budget to the same pro rata level of intervention as IDA and Enterprise Ireland. The employment creation budget, current budget and development budget of Udaras needs to be directly supported from the overall Department of Enterprise budget, it furthermore must get the back office supports of that Department.“All three agencies can work in co operation with unity of purpose and supported to the same level and thus eliminating the anomaly of lesser supports for Gaeltacht areas.“This can be achieved in a partnership approach, while still maintaining the unique identity of the Udaras ethos and cultural importance of Udaras to Gaeltacht areas.Regional development is always more challenging than developing urban or more built up areas, that is more reason than any to ensure that Udaras na Gaeltachta is placed on a level footing with similar development agencies.” Udaras needs urgent Government assistance claims Pat the Cope was last modified: October 13th, 2019 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:donegalPat The Cope GallagherÚdarás na Gaeltachta
Makes my life so much easier when i want to put my long hair in a bun. Yes they are hard plastic but you get what you pay for and for the price these cannot be faulted. As expected and fast delivery. Otherwise my daughter and her friends have fun with these. I would’ve rated this more if the two problems are addressed. *1 the outside and inside edges are sharp ( it can cut you), (i’ve had to use a file or sandpaper to take edge off). Which left it with scratches in some areas (these does not matter because its hidden in the hair). *2 the hooks are not curled enough. I’ve had to put it over a heat (candle) to manipulate the curl. Otherwise my daughter and her friends have fun with these. otherwise my daughter and her friends have fun with theseNot what I was expecting.Very good, came quicklyHair Twist Styling Bun Maker Braid Tool Hair AccessoriesPackage Included: 1 * 5pcs Hair Twist Styling ClipLength: 20cm Very good, came quickly, fits in my long thickish hair and is a quick and easy up-do. Delhi beat Punjab by 29 runs in a high scoring IPL cricket match that saw 433 runs being scored in the day. Score | PhotosDelhi captain Virender Sehwag and David Warner scored 77 runs each as Delhi posted a massive 231/4 at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium on Saturday. The target proved too much for the Punjab team, which lost the match by 29 runs. Still hats off to them for scoring a 200 plus soccer batting second. And the onus for this goes to Aussie Shaun Marsh who scored a quick-fire 95 of 46 balls, hitting nine fours and six sixes.Chasing 232, Punjab lost their in-form opener Paul Valthaty early. He fell to Irfan Pathan in the fourth over when the team total was 25.Post Valthaty’s wicket, Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh batted on without losing a wicket till the 10th over. However, they were nowhere near the Delhi scoring rate. After 10 overs Punjab were a decent 96/1, but that was 19 runs short of Delhi’s total of 115.However, Punjab soon lost a wicket in the 11th over with Gilchrist falling to Delhi paceman Varun Aaron on 42 when the team total was 97/2. Next to take a walk was Dinesh Karthik. A pull of Ajit Agarkar that went wrong was lapped up by captain Virender Sehwag at square leg and Punjab were down to 117/3.David Hussey tried hard to up the tempo and even hit a massive 106 metres six off James Hopes, but could not stop the inevitable – Punjab’s loss. He fell on the next ball, this time the elevation was missing and Sehwag caught him in the deep on 20. Punjab lost their 4th wicket on 153.advertisementThen Shaun Marsh attempted a late revival smashing over the fence shots and boundaries at ease. But, one such shot of Morne Morkel that was not well-timed took a long loop in the air only to settle in the safe hands of Delhi captain Sehwag at mid-off. He fell five runs short of a ton and Punjab lost their fifth wicket on 184.Punjab managed to post 202/6 in 20 overs.Delhi inningsDelhi captain Virender Sehwag and David Warner scored 77 runs each as Delhi posted a massive 231/4 against Punjab in their IPL match.Earlier, Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put Delhi in the middle in this 26th IPL match. And Delhi openers Virender Sehwag and David Warner went on charge right away at their home ground Ferozeshah Kotla. The two blasted away boundaries even as the opposition bowlers found it hard to break their stand. After 10 over Delhi were an impressive 115 – the average was just a shy off 12 runs an over.Sehwag was especially brutal and he picked David Hussey for his batting blitz. In the 12th over, he hit Hussey for three sixes and went for another big one but failed to get the desired elevation and Dinesh Karthik took a fine catch to dismiss him on 77 and their opening stand ended on 146. Sehwag’s 35-ball 77 was decorated with 8 fours and four sixes.Next man Yogesh Nagar too kept up the tempo playing his shots on the up, but he did not stay at the crease for long and departed while trying to hit Abhishek Nayar over the long off boundary. Ryan Harris caught him on 11 and Delhi lost their second wicket on 164/2 in 14 overs. But Warner was still at the crease and he was have a good stay in the middle. He and Venugopal Rao continued to pound the Punjab bowlers in this IPL match. Finally Warner fell to Praveen Kumar in the 16th over on the same total as that of Sehwag. However, his 77 came off 48 balls and included seven fours and four sixes. He too holed out to Harris at long on and Delhi lost their third wicket on 179/3.Aaron Finch was the last wicket to fall for Delhi and post that Rao and Naman Ojha put on an unbeaten 47 runs for the fifth wicket as Delhi scored the highest total of IPL-4 with 231 on board. The total is also the third all-time highest score in IPL.
